Fool Me Twice

Like love,
It's hard to trust the spring,
Smiling sweetly,
Beckoning

I must say I've been fooled before
My skin left unprotected
And in the sudden shifting winds,
I was frozen and  rejected

But wearing too much blocks the touch
Of Love's caressing breath
Summer's promise is on Spring's lips
But it's not quite here just yet.

In the meantime, still I realize
I just have to take that chance
Spring's sun is irresistible,
Love's breeze is like a dance.

But I've been fooled by both before,
Those two experienced players
So I use an old New England trick:
Always dress in layers!

Welcome to the fruits of my mind, rich with flavor and heavy with thought...bold and fresh, and sometimes bruised... Like life, they can be gentle or intense, tough or tender, full of pain or full of grace.

This is life through the eyes of a modern-day Eve-- An Eve who has seen and felt the ages, learned to live and dream in a world where we've already tasted the fruit...
It's not always roses, but that's life...
    for bitter or sweet.

    ...aftertaste...

I remember when life was simple and pure, when we had but ask and it be given. It is now a different day, a different time, a different place...

But I was allowed to take with me, the fruit I had bought, to remind me of who I was, and the Garden I left. And this is who I have become...

... a modern-day Eve, gifted with grace, resilience, and strength...but still I struggle in the toxic now, bred on the taste of ripened fruit...for bitter or for sweet...

    Do you feel me?
