Destination Unknown

I wrote this about a dear friend with an Unheard voice years ago. Today is his birthday, so it is fitting that I share it now. Though he doesn't know where his gifts will lead, I still admire his spirit, his tenacity, and his vision.

Destination Unknown A thousand miles he rode Staring through the panes of cold Glass that masked The cities before him-- Reality grew dim... Where did he go wrong? Was it that last turn That made his heart burn Like there was just Something that didn't belong? The questions to be asked Became a task... What was it that he sought or Was it worth it to be fought for? Or did he just sit still and take it? It's not like he could fake it-- His words were true, Like those eyes of blue, but As for what was in his head, Well, some things are better left unsaid... ...Or so he said... c. 2003.
