Not only can art be a comforting source of solace, but it can also serve as an invigorating reminder that perspective can make a world of difference. Each season, I like to take a little time to reflect on the stories that have brought me to where I am and the artworks they have inspired. It is in recognizing and reclaiming the worth of these moments that I appreciate my journey over time. I find art to be both deeply personal and also a gift worth sharing. Facing the Rising Sun
I am who I am because of them
and because of me,
he is now he
I cherish the boy he was, the young man he is, and the masterpiece he will become
as he comes of age, my son's rising up
and so I share my life's lesson:
Remember to face the rising sun.
our history is rife
with hardship
but with faith, you withstand
and with experience, understand
I've learned you can defy adversity--
change tomorrow by changing today
explore your truths
and help others in turn
learn when to fight
and when to let go and evolve
appreciate yourself
delight in who you are, who you can be,
what you can learn, what you can see
It's a beautiful thing to
imagine the way forward,
dream the solution,
and build the future
Go for it!
You can make a better life, and a better world
be heard
be considered
believe, achieve, receive
count your blessings and watch them multiply
don't shy from the new day--
stand and face the rising sun.
