Around this time of year, of course there is quite a bit of talk about love. While many relish the heavy-handed hints of romance and fantasy, some are completely over them. This can be a hard time for some, love can be celebrated in many ways (and not just in a cliché jewelry ad!). I, for one, adore the holiday--I swoon over rose petals and ribbons, decadent delights, and an excuse to get gorgeous! No, I'm not getting whisked away to some fabulous retreat, and I've had more than my share of disappointment, but it is a time to celebrate love itself. It is celebrated in a heart-warming surprise But is it actually love we are loving, or a conveniently packaged facsimile? After all, real love takes hard work, sacrifice, respect, and reciprocity.
