the swan and the nightingale
The nightingale chirped softly
As the swan went off to bed
She whispered sweetest melodies
To fill his drooping head
Maybe once again they'd meet
When night takes over day
And share a pleasant rhapsody
When again she passed his way.

spring's new year
On a misty spring night
With the moon at its peak
I rounded the corner fast
And saw you there
Encased in glass
I could barely speak
You dared to smile,
That gentle, squinty half-smile
That smile that told
The stories of your eyes
That lit the room with gold
Against the deepening cobalt skies
I splashed in your laugh
Like a bird in a fountain
And stumbled into your depths
Heard the clanging of ships
Under a Red Eclipse
And warmed myself in your breath
Into waves of wonder
I've inhabited the leagues of your heart
Every year must end,
A new one has to start

code of silence
I'd been listening all night
To his telltale heart
And the secrets it told me
That his lips could not...

there's a place in her soul so deep, and so raw,
that a mere breath could shock the nerve
acknowledging it's there raises the bile
and tears fall where they cannot be heard
she bottled this place in dim tempered glass
encasing the storm none dared view
it was safer that way, she smiled to herself...
but still worried that that was not true.
cascading sunbeams in a gloomy sky
he wore the storm on his face
though he had sealed his whole self inside,
she knew she recognized that place
and while she was reaching to pull him out
he slipped inside her sealed chamber
she cringed as he sailed through her ugly truths
but he held her and kissed through the danger
does he wonder how she could love such a man?

a queen's devotion
I have dressed for you, my love,
Donning sultry shades of night and moon,
Powdered with silken mist,
And perfumed with blooming jasmine.
I see my reflection
In the pools of your eyes.
Are you pleased with what you see?
The velvet carpet of midnight sky
Is stretched before us,
Studded with glistening stars
And the faint glitter of shimmering stardust.
Come, let us walk upon it.
Show me the way
To your mystical kingdom,
Where I shall take my place as your queen.
You have found the lost princess,
Now hold me close to your heart--
Keep me in the towering castle of your soul,
Protect me in the fortress of your strong embrace.
I hunger and thirst from want of you.
Let us sit at the table laid before us;
Feast on my love,
As I drink of you.
Lavish me with the precious jewels of your words,
The pearls of your wisdom,
And the crystals that sparkle in your eyes.
Dazzle me with your silver smile,
And your heart of gold.
Dress me in the velvet of your voice,
And clinging sheers of your desire.
Let me give of myself whatever you could wish for,
And when Eternity itself comes knocking at the heavy wooden doors,
I shall still be by your side:
